The AP Calc BC review game where they pick the right derivative
999 terms · all ten units · free, no student accounts
One round from AP Calculus BC — Unit 9: Parametric Equations, Polar Coordinates, and Vector-Valued Functions
Horizontal Tangent Parametric
Occurs where dy/dt equals zero while dx/dt does not.
Flat-spot
That is all they get — a hint, not the term the other four are holding — and they have to describe it first.
The Mole knows the curve goes flat somewhere. That is enough to describe a path levelling off and sound completely right — and then they have to say which derivative is the one equal to zero. It is a coin flip, and talking does not improve the odds.
Recognizing a word is not knowing it
BC is where the flipped answer looks exactly like the correct one. A student who says dx/dt when they meant dy/dt has lost the point, and a bubbled answer never tells them which they meant.
